🌺 Sometimes Ignoring Is the Greatest Answer 🌺
«“This divine Māyā of Mine, consisting of the three qualities, is difficult to cross.
But those who take refuge in Me alone cross over this Māyā.”
— Srimad Bhagavad Gita 7.14»
Meaning:
This divine Māyā of Mine, consisting of the three qualities, is very difficult to overcome. But those who surrender themselves to Me alone cross beyond this Māyā.
Once, Sri Krishna, Balarama, and Satyaki were travelling through a dense forest.
Evening passed and darkness began to spread. Ahead was a thick forest. Realizing that travelling any farther at that time would be dangerous, they decided to spend the night under a large tree.
But when it is a forest, there is always a possibility of danger.
Therefore, the three of them made an agreement.
One person would remain awake and keep watch for one Yāma (a period of time), while the other two rested.
The first watch was Balarama’s turn.
Krishna and Satyaki went to sleep.
Balarama had immense confidence in his own strength. He remained alert and kept watch carefully.
Just then…
🌑 A terrifying-looking Brahmarakshasa suddenly jumped down from the tree!
Balarama was not frightened.
With the confidence of, “Whoever comes before me, I will face them!” he entered into a fight with the demon.
Balarama struck him with his fist.
But strangely!
Nothing happened to the demon.
Instead…
The more Balarama struck him, the larger the demon became!
One moment, he was as tall as Balarama; the next moment, he had grown even taller than him.
Balarama’s anger increased.
As his anger increased, his blows became stronger.
As his blows became stronger, the demon’s size also continued to increase!
Finally, Balarama became exhausted and fell to the ground.
Now it was Satyaki’s turn.
Satyaki too had immense confidence in his own valor.
He also saw the demon and entered into battle.
One blow…
The demon grew!
Another blow…
He grew even more!
As Satyaki’s anger increased, the demon’s strength also increased.
Finally, Satyaki too was defeated and fell to the ground, completely exhausted.
Now it was Sri Krishna’s turn.
Krishna slowly got up.
He looked at the demon.
But…
He did not fight.
He did not become angry.
He did not argue.
He did not provoke him.
Instead, he stood at a little distance, looked at him with complete indifference, and smiled gently.
Amazing!
The demon, who had grown as tall as a mountain…
Slowly began to shrink!
The less attention Krishna gave him, the smaller he became.
Finally…
He became as small as a little ball!
Krishna easily picked him up in his hand and tied him to the edge of his garment.
Then, as though nothing had happened, he calmly sat down again.
After some time, Balarama and Satyaki woke up.
Their entire bodies were aching.
Their faces were filled with astonishment.
They looked at Krishna.
Krishna was simply sitting there comfortably with a gentle smile!
“Krishna! When we fought him, that demon became as huge as a mountain. How did you defeat him?”
Krishna smiled gently.
Then he said:
“He was not actually big… He appeared big because of the importance you gave him.”
“You fought him with anger.
Your anger became his strength.
Every reaction you gave him made him grow even bigger.
But I did not give him any importance.
Therefore, his strength gradually diminished.”
🌿 The same truth applies to life
Not every problem in our life is actually big enough to defeat us.
Sometimes…
It becomes big only because of the importance we give it.
Someone criticized us.
We immediately respond.
Someone provoked us.
We become angry.
Someone insulted us.
We spend hours thinking about it.
Someone spread lies about us.
We run around explaining it to everyone.
And so…
Every moment we react, we give that person more and more space inside our mind.
🪔 A small example…
Suppose, while walking on the road, a dog sees us and starts barking at us.
If we also stand in front of it and start barking…
Whom will the people on the road look at strangely?
Us! 😄
The dog is simply doing its job.
We should continue walking on our own path.
In the same way, in life…
We do not have to answer every word.
We do not have to explain every accusation.
We do not have to take every criticism to heart.
Sometimes silence is the answer.
Sometimes distance is the solution.
And sometimes…
Ignoring is the most powerful response.
🌺 But remember one thing…
Ignoring does not mean cowardice.
Silence does not mean weakness.
Not reacting does not mean that we are incapable.
Knowing what deserves our response and what should simply be left aside, in order to protect our peace of mind…
That is true wisdom.
Sri Krishna’s life teaches us this very lesson—
«“Do not give your mind into everyone’s hands.
Do not even give your anger to those who are not worthy of your peace.”»
🌼 Sri Krishna’s message for today’s life
The person who provokes you wants your attention.
The person who criticizes you wants your reaction.
The person who tries to pull you down gains strength from your anger.
Do not give that strength to them.
Continue moving forward on your path.
Do your work.
Perform your duty.
Keep your mind at the feet of the Lord.
Then…
Those who provoked you may not become smaller;
but the huge space you had created for them in your mind will gradually become smaller.
That is true victory.
That is freedom of the mind.
That is the path of Sri Krishna. 🙏
